Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.)

The R.C.I.A. program is intended for adults who are interested in joining the Holy Catholic Church.

Adults who are un-baptized (catechumens), or who were baptized in another Christian community (candidates), qualify for the R.C.I.A. process.  Participants in the R.C.I.A. program meet on Wednesdays from mid-September to Easter from 6:30-8:00 PM in the Gallagher Center at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist.  During each session the candidates and catechumens are instructed in the Traditions of the Catholic Faith.  Through intellectual inquiry, communal prayer, and discussion, those who seek entrance into the Holy Catholic Church will learn how to live the Catholic Faith.

Please check the Religious Education section of your weekly bulletin for specific dates and news.

Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (C.C.D.)

The C.C.D. program is intended for Catholic students, grades K-8, who attend non-Catholic schools.

About the Program

As Catholics we are all tasked with creating disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ in order to save souls and give glory to God.  We create disciples by passing on a Catholic way of life to or children.  This is accomplished through instruction in the beliefs and practices of the Catholic Faith, a process known as catechesis.  It is important to remember that the family is the primary school of religion.  In the home parents are to pass the Catholic Faith on to their children.  However, these beliefs must also be practiced.  According to the teachings of the Holy Catholic Church parents are required to bring their children to the Holy Sacrifice of Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation.  By studying the teachings of the Catholic Faith and receiving the grace of the Sacraments families are able to grow closer to the Lord.  Fr. Sheridan and I hope that our C.C.D. program will be a valuable resource for families as they grow in holiness by learning about the beliefs and practices of the Catholic Faith.
